![]() ![]() Some of the players are fairly new and some are very, very seasoned. Predator Nine Ball founder, Tony Robles, is shown taking a shot at BQE Billiards prior to the tournament start. I overheard a number of the players commenting favorably about this tournament host location, BQE Biliiards in Jackson Heights. I spoke with Tony and he mentioned that Predator Nine Ball does about 20 tournaments each year, at some of the best pool halls in the region. Tony teamed up with William Finnegan to organize the traveling tournament which began in February of 2008, and it has been catching on as it evolves. The tournament is a traveling tourney through which about 1,000 players in the eastern section of the country have participated over the past year. Mark was also an instructor at Tom Simpson's National Billiards Academy. Since 1992, he has taught at Slate’s (formerly known as Chelsea Billiards), as well as Eastside Billiards and does private lessons as well as conferences, parties, pool seminars and corporate events. Finally, when he permanently returned to the United States, pool became a full time occupation. Despite his unconventional lifestyle, he found time frequently to play and practice. That began his 21 year career in the Navy, during which he was stationed in Japan, the Philippines and Thailand among other places. After graduating from New York University with mixed degrees in electrical engineering and liberal arts, Mark was drafted. Pool followed him through his life, through high school and college, and even further on during his career in the Navy. His father brought him to a pool room owned by a friend, and he was hooked with the game. started playing pool at the early age of six.
